Waldo's Gift Pierce Expectations With 'Kaleidoscope'
Waldo's Gift is the combination of three exceptionally talented musicians from Bristol.
Criss-crossing between post-bop jazz and electronics, their intensely improvisatory approach is dominated by the physicality of the live experience.
Leaning towards Flying Lotus while forever remaining immersed in jazz, Waldo's Gift released their live debut album 'Improvisations' a few months back.
Standout piece 'Kaleidoscope' exemplified their near-telepathic interplay, and it now comes equipped with a dazzling new video.
Waveform Media steer the fantastically stylised clip, filmed on location at Estate of the Arts Studios, Bristol.
Speaking about the video the band share:
"We love improvising. Each live show is a totally unique experience. We strive for true connection to the moment through unadulterated expression. With the album we wanted to push that concept as far as we could, honestly capturing the whole process."
"We took that process even further with the 'Kaleidoscope' video. We knew from the start we wanted improvised dance in the video. We captured only a few takes of Saskia Horton (jazz violinist and dancer) expressing herself while hearing the music for the first time."
"What you’re seeing in the video is pure un-choreographed improvised dance. A joy and challenge to film. Holysseus Fly painted 300 frames in the expressive style of the album art that were lovingly animated by our live show VJ Fred Iles.”
