Premiere: Club Kuru – ’49Years’

Woozy left-field pop with a psychedelic feel...

Club Kuru have shared the deft new video for debut album highlight '49Years'.

Laurie Erskine fought to gain control of his own music, with label troubles causing his initial recordings to be locked in a vault somewhere.

Eventually wrestling his way to freedom, Club Kuru emerged from these difficulties, with an expanded line up and a renewed sense of purpose.

Releasing their debut album earlier in the year, the project were simply delighted to finally see light at the end of the tunnel.

Laurie commented at the time: "I guess we were just so glad to finally have a record coming out and we were not expecting a huge amount to happen…"

Since then, things have really take off. 6Music playlists and stellar live shows have pushed their profile higher, gaining millions of streams across Spotify and Apple Music.

Woozy left-field pop with a psychedelic feel, Club Kuru found like a more focussed Unknown Mortal Orchestra, a 21st century Syd Barrett with a coherent pop fixation.

Album cut '49Years' is delicious, a bewitching, otherworldly piece of cosmic melody that comes laden with graceful effects.

We're able to premiere the visuals, and they're a real treat – tune in below, then check out details of Club Kuru's Autumn tour after the jump.
