A gritty yet familiar tale...

Multi-instrumentalist Bastien Keb released his debut album to widespread acclaim, but then immediately set about laying down a series of fresh challenges.

Heading into the studio to work on fresh material, new album '22.02.85' is a concept album of sorts that reflects a broken, austerity ridden country.

Initially conceived as a tale involving a stripper lost in the city, it's a drifting yet gritty dreamscape that is “all about girls apart from two about a big lug”.

Clash is able to premiere the video for 'Town', and it feels like a short film from Shane Meadows in its ability to grasp both the mundane and the surreal of the everyday.

He explains: “There's a melancholy edge, but I don't wanna depress people. Sad but hopeful? If that's possible.”

Tune in now.

'22.02.85' is out now. Catch Bastien Keb at London's Archspace on November 1st - ticket LINK.
