Chicago has always been a fertile base for left field artists.
A hub for free jazz, Chicago later boasted a healthy punk scene, before spawning unique post-rock groups such as Tortoise.
This free-spirited atmosphere continues in 2019, with the underground community producing groups such as HIDE.
A darkened two-piece, the group - a partnership between fine artist Gabel and percussionist Seth Sher - their early work lit up huge hype in their local area.
A single on Sub Pop followed, with new album 'Hell Is Here' set to drop on August 23rd via Dais Records.
New single 'Chainsaw' is online now, with its blackened fusion of noise rock and blistered electronics recalling Blanck Mass or even The Soft Moon.
Film makers Chris Hefner (Chicago) and Menthol Pictures (NYC) unite to work on the full video, and it's a challenging, arresting watch.
Tune in now.
