Track Of The Day 20/2 – George The Poet

'Cat D' (Faze Miyake Remix)

George The Poet is proving that spoken word needn't be divorced from the mainstream.

Nominated for the BRIT Critics Choice award, each new show from the performer seems to find raising the hype further and further.

New single 'Cat D' is out this week, accompanied by some classy visuals. With George The Poet set to play a hometown show on Monday (February 23rd), Clash is able to premiere an intriguing new remix.

One of the most potent voices in grime's current resurgence, Faze Miyake grabs influences wherever he can find them.

Opening in a smog of distorted vocals and corrosive synths, the producer's re-work then descends into a darkly enticing fusion of sino-grime influences and square-wave bass lines.

By inverting 'Cat D', Faze Miyake pays homage to the strength of the original – check it out now.
