Kathryn Williams Barbican Date

New single in the pipeline

Critically acclaimed British songwriter Kathryn Williams has confirmed details of a new single alongside a handful of special tour dates.

Working on the sidelines of British music, Kathryn Williams has produced spell binding songcraft for almost a decade now. Releasing several acclaimed albums the singer specialises in dark, folk influenced material.

Now Kathryn Williams is due to return in 2010 with her eighth studio album. ‘The Quickening’ comes shortly after a series of festive tour dates with James Yorkston, in which she previewed new material.

Her first on her new home of One Little Indian, the album will be trailed by the single ’50 White Lines’. Co-written with collaborator David Scott the track is described by Kathryn Williams as a “Bonnie and Clyde song”.

“I was talking about all the nights of travel you have on tour and how you are always leaving a city and watching it behind you” she explained. “I said that I imagined I was on the run, and that’s how this Bonny and Clyde song came about.”

“When I think of the song, it’s like a film. A close shot of two faces looking ahead to a border where they will be safe from what they are escaping. The adrenalin, the fast heart beat, thoughts flashing like car lights passing by ‘lights on the dashboard darting like fish, if I can drive through this town I can vanish’.”

In addition to this Kathryn Williams has confirmed a new UK tour. Alongside special dates at London’s Bush Hall and Barbican venues the singer has outlined the following shows:

February
21 Birmingham The Glee Club
22 Brighton Komedia
23 Bristol The Tunnels

March
1 Manchester Band On The Wall
2 Glasgow King Tuts
3 Newcastle Live Theatre
6 London Purcell Room
