Jack White Admits Solo Album Plans

Recording sessions due this year

White Stripes guitarist Jack White has admitted that he wants to record a solo album.

The White Stripes were one of the most influential acts of the past decade. Sparking a garage rock revolution the band became an international success, inspiring countless bands to ditch their bass player.

However since 2007 the Detroit duo have been on hiatus. Drummer Meg White suffered from acute anxiety problems, taking time off to get married to fellow Detroit musician Fred Smith in a ceremony last year.

Jack White has kept himself busy with a variety of projects, including his record label Third Man as well as The Raconteurs and The Dead Weather. Now in a new interview the guitarist has admitted to planning a solo album.

Speaking to American magazine Rolling Stone the Nashville based musician was asked about the possibility of solo material. White replied: “Eventually, yeah, for sure.”

Famed for his versatility, Jack White recently played drums on The Dead Weather’s debut album. Fans have speculated that the guitarist could play all the instruments on a solo album, a possibility Jack White admits he has considered.

“I’ve never done that (played everything himself). I thought about that. That might be the challenge – to differentiate from anything else that I’ve done.”

Jack White then admitted that he simply could not plan when a White Stripes, Raconteurs or Dead Weather project might occur. “It would be a mistake for me to premeditate anything, even in the next six months, to say what I’m going to do,” the guitarist explained.

“I honestly could be working on a White Stripes (album) in the next two weeks. I have no idea if that is going to happen. And the same with The Dead Weather. I’d rather live like this without a calendar in front of me.”
