When Real Lies released their startling, inventive debut album in 2015 one reference point cropped up more than most.
The sharp social analysis, the intersection between pop and underground culture, all pointed towards Pet Shop Boys, an influence the group readily acknowledged.
Ever the culture vultures, Pet Shop Boys rapidly became aware of Real Lies, with Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe inviting the group to remix their latest single.
'Say It To Me' is drawn from recent (and rather wonderful) album 'Super', and it's given a standalone release this Friday (September 16th).
Real Lies are on hand to re-work the track, and this new version is perfect for those 5am sessions when the sun comes streaming through open windows and conversation takes on a new height of euphoria.
The sound is almost bleached out, the synths undulating into a blur, with Neil Tennant's perfect delivery rooted in the middle.
It's a logical, but nonetheless remarkable, partnership - tune in below.
'Say It To Me' will be available digitally and on CD this Friday (September 16th) with a vinyl release to follow shortly.
