Something came over Lees in lockdown.
A period of forced reflection, the time alone pushed her thoughts ever inward, allowing her to process some deeply held emotions.
New single 'Honeymoon Suite' is the result. The sound of someone going through some things, and coming out the other side, it's a gliding, refulgent piece of alt-pop.
Designed to operate at a slo-mo pace, her meditative vocal deals with a mosaic of break ups - removed from her family, from friends, and relationships - before finally placing her stronger, alone.
“This song is just a mess of memories” says Lees. “I like that it feels lyrically a bit chaotic and confusing because that’s completely what I was feeling when I wrote it. ‘Honeymoon Suite’ is about the good times flooding back, trying to appreciate them, and moving on.”
