Each song from London-based riser Benedict Cork seems to carry a message.
An artist unafraid to let his emotions pour out on record, it's the way he interprets this, with each performance seeming to raise the bar still further.
Enjoying a stellar 2018 with compliments, plaudits, and sold out live shows coming his way, Benedict Cork recently flew out to Los Angeles to lay down a new live EP.
Working at the famed studio complex Red Gate Recorders, it's a sparse document, one that shows the striking bare bones of his work.
We're able to share a performance of fan favourite 'Wildfire', with the emotional resonance intensified by that striking vocal.
"I wrote 'Wildfire out in LA' with my buddy Josh Cumbee a few years back. I’d never been in love before, had no idea what it felt like, but felt super ready to find it. It’s definitely got a sadness to it, but it feels hopeful to me in a way. My favourite lyric from the tune is ‘I don’t know what it feels like, when a cold heart meets a wildfire."
"It feels like the perfect closer to this live EP cos the song’s now saying to me that after all the hard times and heartbreak of last year, I’m feeling ready to move on and share my life with someone again."
Tune in now.
