Australian project Thibault come with high pedigree.
Spearheaded by Nicole Thibault, she built an impeccable catalogue in the 90s with cult heroes Minimum Chips.
Also boasting members of The Ocean Party, Parsnip, and Orb, their emergence was cheered by the likes of Kathleen Hanna and members of Stereolab.
Thibault's new album 'Or Not Thibault' lands on September 4th, and it comes recommended by Stereolab's Tim Gane, who comments:
“Wonderful LP. Positively esemplastic! Beautiful baroque pop with a swish of European supernatural fairytale film music. Melancholy melodies are super-great. I really like this record!”
6Music's very own Gideon Coe is a supporter, and new single 'Drama' is the band at their most unexpected and exhilarating.
Curious psych-pop with off piste overtones, it's about adjusting to the trauma that can overwhelm your life. Nicole Thibault comments...
"'Drama' is about the realisation that I was experiencing pretty intense levels of legit 'drama' in my life for a couple of years and it kind of became my new normal. I didn’t know if I was ever going to recover from it, but I did... I think! I mean now we have a global pandemic so there is that too, but at least it’s not something I had anything to do with for once."
Tune in now.
We've just been handed a sweet visual for 'Drama' too - tune in below.
