New album, tour from legend

One of Britain's most unique songwriting talents is set to return with Robyn Hitchcock due to release new album and tour the nation.

Beginning as the lead singer with The Soft Boys, Hitchcock's career had wandered its own path for decades now. The Soft Boys blended psychedelia with new wave energy, but got very little attention in the UK.

Over in the States, meanwhile, the band were cult favourites. R.E.M. adored them, and when Hitchcock went solo the group were high profile supporters.

With The Egyptians and the The Venus 2, the singer has produced almost three decades of unique material - whimsically English yet with a universal appeal.

New album 'Goodnight Oslo' evokes a night in Norway spent by the songwriter nearly 30 years ago. Musing on the passing of time, Hitchcock said "that's the way it is with humans. You could call it the comfort of doom. ‘Goodnight Oslo’ is a vortex that I am still leaving."

Robyn Hitchcock will release his new album 'Goodnight Oslo' on February 9th. The singer will play the following UK tour dates:

8 Newcastle Academy 2
10 Leeds Brudenell Social Club
11 Birmingham Glee Club
