Icarus want to make each step count.
The brotherly production duo only released three tracks in 2017, but every single one became an anthem in its own right.
Finishing the year with a special set at the Warehouse Project in Manchester, the pair decided to drop some new material.
'Love Has Come Around' immediately stood out, with it's euphoric disco-tinged appeal matched to some intriguing production elements.
Sampling the early 80s Donald Byrd cut of the same name, it applies a neat twist to an instantly infectious hook.
"We didn’t just want to do a straight-up disco vibe," says Ian Griffiths. "We wanted to take the sample and flip it to make something new. I think we’ve really put out stamp on it."
The track features on new EP 'In The Dark' - due for release this Spring - and with Icarus planning their debut live tour 2018 is set to be a huge year for the duo.

What was the spur for this track?
Ian heard the original playing in a shop in Bristol one day and the horn hook caught his ear. We sometimes make notes on our phones when we’re out and about of things to try in the studio and this idea stuck.
We downloaded the original and just started chopping about to see what we could come up with. We knew we didn’t just want to make a straight up sample based tune so we started playing chords and different lines around it. It took about year all in all to get the tune to a finished state but we’re happy with how it turned out!
Have you been playing this song out? What have the reactions been like?
We played it for the first time on New Year’s Eve at Warehouse Project in Manchester. I’m not sure if that many people actually knew what the sample was but it doesn’t take long to get stuck in your head! It’s cool to watch people get into a tune and gradually start singing along to it. Hopefully we’ll see this tune grow as we play it more and more throughout the year!
How does this track fit into your upcoming EP?
‘Love Has Come Around’ is the first track taken from our forthcoming EP titled ‘In The Dark’. The concept for the EP is the feelings, situations and thoughts surrounding a new relationship. The listener can take what they like from the music and lyrics throughout the whole EP. It’s not all butterflies and good times (as you’ll hear) but this track certainly represents the excitement of meeting and connecting with someone new.
What does 2018 hold for you?
We have a lot planned for this year! Definitely more touring in the UK and abroad, festivals in the summer, Ibiza dates and a lot more music to come. We feel like this is the year that we want to release more music at once. More of a body of work over the year, rather than singles.
