Hips want to let their music do the talking.
The enigmatic three-piece wear masks in their press shots, and allow little in the way of biographical detail to hit the web.
It's appropriate, then, that the trio make such potent, colour-laden music, the kind of funk-pop Prince used to make his own.
Wonderful new single 'Upsidown' is a synth-pop jammer with a real 80s feel, but it's the 80s of 'Sign o The Times' or 'Bad'.
Reference points could include everyone from Cameo to Halls & Oates, with the three-piece keeping things simple, but oh-so-addictive.
Hips explain…
"'Upsidown' is our tribute to all the funky love songs of the disco era. It’s a song about those situations where you’re going about your day and suddenly lay eyes on somebody extra cute on the subway, in the club or the library and they look back at you with the same admiration. 'Upsidown' is about that moment when you fall deeply in love, when everything around you starts spinning and the world turns upside down, even if just for a minute before you come back to reality… "
Tune in now.
