'Valentina' (ft. Smoke Fairies) gets re-spun...
Public Service Broadcasting

Public Service Broadcasting are deliberately, artfully, resolutely English.

It's there in the music, in the lyrics, and it's even there in the artwork. Second album 'The Race For Space' emerged last year, essentially re-working the Space Race but from an English perspective – imagine Dan Dare jamming with some Krautrock outcasts and you'd be fairly close.

'The Race For Space – Remixes' is a new compilation that allows a host of fresh producers to get their grimy paws on the original stems.

Out on June 17th, re-works come from Maps, Field Music, Vessels, and more. 'Valentina' borrows guest vocals from the divine Smoke Fairies, with none other than Boxed In sitting in on remix duties.

It's a wistful, dare we say ethereal, re-work, one that focusses on texture, shade, and colour, each rushing past in a blur. Glitchy electronics are set against the vocals, a hymn to the often overlooked female contribution to the Space Race – in particular, the achievements of Valentina Tereshkova.
