When Pixies first reformed, the band vowed to remain a strictly retrospective vehicle.
Re-visiting their influential back catalogue, the American group stuck to their nostalgic guns for almost a decade.
Breaking form, Pixies then did an about turn: new material was incoming, with two EPs emerging over the past six months.
Now the band have outlined plans for their first full length studio album in 20 years. Produced by long term associate Gil Norton and recorded at Rockfield studios in Wales, 'Indie Cindy' will be released on Record Store Day (April 19th).
"We started seriously talking about recording new music about four years ago," said Pixies drummer David Lovering. "New music seemed like something we just had to do, we just couldn’t continue to go out and tour without anything new. So the talk evolved into writing and recording, and we’re all very happy with the way everything worked out."
