Casablancas solo effort airs

A new song featuring Julian Casablancas from The Strokes has appeared online.

With the New Yorkers on a seemingly never ending hiatus, the members of The Strokes have indulged in a series of side projects. Albert Hammond Jr, Little Joy, Nickel Eye - the off shoots just keep on coming!

Julian Casablancas is a close friend of the Saturday Night Live comedy team Lonely Island, and lends his vocals to their new song. Titled 'Boombox' it is set to appear on the popular team's forthcoming album 'Incredibad' which is currently streaming at Stereogum.

Fans of The Strokes shouldn't get their hopes up though - previous Lonely Island efforts include such ribald items as 'Jizz In My Pants' and 'Dick In A Box', which features none other than Justin Timberlake.

The Strokes last released an album in 2005 with 'First Impressions Of Earth'. The group recently revealed that they are due to reconvene in February to discuss new material, with an album due sometime on the horizon.
