The year in retrospect...
Scratcha DVA

Scratcha DVA has pieced together a new mix looking at Hyperdub's 2013 output.

One of Britain's most influential imprints, Hyperdub has leaped from the fluid, 12 inch dominated nature of club culture to a rather more mature, album oriented outlook.

It's a curious shift. Sure, Hyperdub can still toss out the odd banger - including one this year from head honcho Kode9 himself - but the label now seems to be focussed on developing artists, allowing them the opportunity to grow and express themselves.

Scratcha DVA has certainly benefited from this. The one time Rinse resident is steeped in rave knowledge, but last year decided to unleash his debut LP. Fusing grime, jungle and South African house, Scratcha DVA's transition could only really have been accomplished on Hyperdub.

With that in mind, it's appropriate that the ever jovial DJ has pieced together a 2013 retrospective focussing on the label's output. Expect club bangers and near ambient moments, as the breakneck mix veers from stylistic diversion to stylistic diversion.
