Jade Bird sails back into our lives with new single 'Headstart'.
The English artist has become the toast of a close-knit circle of American songwriting icons, culminating in a memorable series of live dates last year.
Hitting the iconic Newport Folk Festival, she found herself onstage alongside Dolly Parton, Brandi Carlile, Sheryl Crow, Maggie Rodgers, and more, performing Dolly's single '9 To 5'.
New single 'Headstart' has its roots in that trip, and it's an uplifting piece of Americana that carries a kind of sunny, breezy Autumnal weight to it.
"'Headstart' came out of a trip I made to upstate New York at the beginning of the year. It’s quite a light-hearted song, about liking someone who just can’t see the signs, and releasing it feels like a way to give a bit of joy to the end of the year. It feels like community to me, and it makes me want to sing again."
Recorded at the historic RCA Studios with Dave Cobb, it's a gilded return, one that carries her enticing energy.
