Listen: Archie Bronson Outfit – I Was A Dead Duck

Available through Speedy Wunderground...

Archie Bronson Outfit have recorded new single 'I Was A Dead Duck' for fledgling label Speedy Wunderground.

Given the huge amount of music being released on a weekly basis, the conceptual approach is arguably more important than ever. Having a strict identity, being able to stand apart from the morass of anonymous material, undoubtedly helps a label build a passionate following.

Speedy Wunderground is a case in point. Helmed by Dan Carey, the London based label are dedicated to recording a series of singles in as quick a time as possible. Launched earlier this year, the producer invites bands into his studio for a quickfire, day long recording session.

Next up: Archie Bronson Outfit. The band are now reduced to two core members – Arp Cleveland and S Windatt – but are rapidly making their most experimental music to date. New single 'I Was A Dead Duck' opens with a fraught, frenetic blues riff – not unlike the tough-as-hell early 70s work of The Groundhogs.

However half way through the track the band ditch their love of the 12 bar and set their controls for the heart of the sun, resulting in a psych rock freak out worthy of Faust or Hawkwind.

Trippy stuff, it's out on May 6th and features a dub version on the flip.
