Singer Leaves Money To Charity

Legendary soul singer Issac Hayes has left a fortune in his will to his family, and to a variety of charities most notably the Issac Hayes Foundation.

The singer passed away on August 10th in Memphis after being found unconscious by his wife and son near a treadmill in their family home. Hayes, with David Porter, was one part of a hugely successful songwriting team at the seminal Stax imprint. They wrote classics for the likes of Sam & Dave, Otis Redding, Staples Singers and many more before Isaac Hayes decided to turn solo.

His extended soul / funk workouts became the stuff of musical legend, with albums such as "Hot Buttered Soul" and "Black Moses" remaining hugely adventurous works.

Isaac Hayes will was filed last week, but not along with the value and contents of his estate. His money will be split between his beloved family and the Isaac Hayes Foundation - a charity which promotes literacy, music and nutrition. Amongst thier previous projects have been the building of a school in Ghana.
