Coldplay have revealed that David Bowie turned down a collaboration request - because the song in question wasn't good enough.
The band looked back on the tale as part of a video interview with NME, assessing the legacy that the iconic singer will leave behind.
Coldplay had seemingly written a song with a multi-part harmony - and invited David Bowie to sing one of the parts.
Will Champion explained that the group received a polite but firm letter of rejection: "It's not a very good song, is it?"
Champion added: "He was very discerning. He wouldn't just put his name to anything. I'll give him credit for that."
