But the skies remain overcast...

The gates have swung open to welcome Glastonbury revellers.

Back at Worthy Farm for the first time since 2017, Glastonbury sold out months in advance, welcoming headline sets from The Cure, The Killers, and Stormzy.

It's a stellar year, and it could even be a record breaker, with the Met Office tipping temperatures to soar.

The BBC are rather more conservative, though, and while sunshine should be plentiful the temperature might struggle to get above 30 degrees Celsius.

Festival founder Michael Eavis opened the gates personally, and you can watch footage below:
