The last rave on earth?
Day Zero

Crosstown Rebels have announced a massive line up of electronic artists to celebrate the conclusion of the 25,625 year long Mayan calendar on December 21st.

'Day Zero' will take place on the Caribbean coast of Mexico, with the arena situated on an ancient pyramid site set between two lakes in Playa del Carmen, the traditional centre of the Mayan civilization. The event is set to feature a solid 24 hours of music, counting down to 6:11pm on December 21st. Secret Productions, the team behind Secret Garden Party, Glade and Wilderness Festivals, are behind the production, adding characteristic quirks such as performance artists, workshops, traditional Mayan games and 3D visuals to the music.

Crosstown Rebels head honcho Damian Lazarus explains the thinking behind the event. “This is a phenomenal moment in time," says Crosstown Rebels head honcho Damian Lazarus, explaining the thinking behind the event. "There is no way we could let it pass without hosting an amazing and unforgettable celebration. It’s going to be a moment that our generation can latch on to that actually feels credible, poignant and special.”

Headline acts include Jamie Jones, Art Department, Trentemøller and Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, and James Lavelle and Massive Attack's 3D will be going back to back during a special one off set.
