“I chose to partner with adidas because, as you will experience today, adidas is a brand that enables creators to create,” Kanye West announced overhead as he presented YEEZY SEASON 1.

Making his collaborative debut as part of New York Fashion Week, yesterday’s presentation was streamed live into 42 theatres across the globe, allowing hardcore fans to be amongst the first to witness his latest sartorial efforts.

“There’s a series of people who like to write, just negative comments,” he continues in the video below, addressing critics of his former fashion industry endeavours, including his own label and partnerships with Jean Touitou’s A.P.C..

“They wanna joke around and say why is he still trying? You know, if I see an opportunity I’m gonna go for it, I’m here to crack the pavement… I want people to feel like awesome is possible.”

            

 

Cast by AM Casting’s Angus Munro, models included Kylie Jenner and Ian Connor, while the frow was claimed by many of West’s contemporaries, among them Jay Z, Beyonce, Big Sean, Pusha T and Sean Combs; Alexander Wang, Spike Jonze, Anna Wintour and Kim Kardashian were also present, the latter in a full Yeezy get-up, naturally.

Working closely with contemporary artist Vanessa Beecroft, the event played on the abstract, from the bare space and harsh lights to the flesh coloured tights that occupied the female bodies on display: “There is a challenge to where fashion is currently – a new feminine ideal,” offered the designer of the womenswear line.

With a Valentine’s day release date, the light tones of the Yeezy Boost stood out beneath the primarily dark menswear pieces, while those predominantly enamoured with the man himself no doubt were most enthused when it came to the bow, at which point Kanye dropped the first track from his new album; titled ‘Wolves’ it features Sia and Vic Mensa and can be heard at 08:37 in the video above.
