In 1891, a French stilt-walker named Sylvain Dornon walked from Paris to Moscow in 58 days, setting a world record that still stands. Sure he was a big deal at the time, but his cross country hike pales in comparison to the newly discovered stilt walking talents of Krisha, Djeneba, Rose and Enomha, four models street cast for the new JW Anderson campaign.
Back in February, Mr. Anderson had told Vogue Runway that his collection of balloon sleeved raincoats and capes was inspired by “the idea of women walking on clouds". Fittingly the campaign sees the exaggerated couture shapes in tulle and chiffon suspended on sky-high wooden stilts among the bucolic greenery.
The fall-winter campaign marks the second time that the group have come together. Just last month Mitchell shot the Loewe fall-winter 2019 menswear limited edition publication in Toledo with long-time J-Dubs pal, collaborator and stylist Benjamin Bruno. Staying local this time, the trio reunited in the English countryside with the group of first-time models and a multipack of wooden stilts.
Sure, nobody has broken Dornan's record as of yet, but we'll take being the face of the forthcoming JW Anderson flagship in Soho over a one-line Wikipedia entry any day.
