Clash plays catch up with the week’s most fashionable news (or something to that effect).

After much speculation and numerous rumours, on Monday Nicolas Ghesquière was confirmed as Louis Vuitton’s new Creative Director.

Formerly holding the same title at Balenciaga, Ghesquière takes over from Marc Jacobs who left last month to focus on his own name label.

Additionally, the brand this week welcomed a shop within a shop at Selfridges.

NEWGEN MEN – the Topman funded sponsorship programme – this week announced its AW14 winners.

Agi & Sam, Astrid Andersen, Lee Roach, Martine Rose, Matthew Miller, Nasir Mazhar and Shaun Samson will all gain sponsorship as they did last season, while Kit Neale, Common and Diego Vanassibara have been added to the line up.

NEWGEN MEN began in 2009, following the positive response of its sister branch. Winners each receive sponsorship and showcasing opportunities, to support them presenting at London Collections: Men.

The provisional schedule for January’s LC:M went live yesterday, you can view it here.

And lastly, Joseph Turvey was today announced as the latest collaborator for River Island.

His 16-piece capsule collection (available next February) is the second time the brand has partnered with a menswear designer, following T.Lipop’s AW13 collection.

As part of Fash/On Film, the designer will present a short film at January’s event, to be directed by Alex Turvey.
