Wretch 32 – ‘Antwi’

A powerful return from the British MC...

Wretch 32 is changing.

Sure, the British rapper is better known for his more pop-centric output, but an appearance on Fire In The Booth at the end of last year seemed to remind everyone – even Wretch 32 himself – that this an MC with serious skills.

Taking this energy straight into the studio, Wretch 32 began working on fresh material. “For me, it’s the beginning of the next chapter. It’s like, an intense display of my art. After the Fire in The Booth, my eyes opened and I know there are people out there that still want to hear what I have to say.”

The track that became new cut 'Antwi' began as a rant, as the rapper just cutting loose in the studio.

Sending the basic material to his mentor Richard Antwi, the record industry figure told him to get it out there, despite the risks.

Tragically, Richard Antwi passed away a few days after this call, and the track now bears his name.

It's a powerful salute, with Wretch 32 commenting: “I was just venting… and when you vent you’re free”.
