Premiere: Thumpers – ‘Gargantua’ (Live)

Thumpers have always had a sense of the theatrical.

So when the duo announced a one off London show at Courtyard Theatre, it made perfect sense.

Exploring material unheard to most fans, the pair pointed out new directions, fresh avenues for exploration.

New single 'Gargantua' is a case in point. Out now, it's a vivid, intelligent return, matching glistening melody against lyricism that works on several levels.

"The song is about this cartoonish need to put on muscle. I mean, I see these huge men everywhere now. It seems like that’s now an insane requirement that’s just accepted more and more but it’s something that has these other much bigger male insecurities behind it," says Marcus. "So I wanted to mock that but also I definitely get that there’s this craving to make yourself matter somehow. I just don’t think that taking up more space is the best way to do it."

Thumpers recently shot a beautiful live performance of 'Gargantua', essentially reducing the track to a single piano and two voices.
