Premiere: Manuela – ‘Invincible’

Taken from their new self-titled album...

Nick McCarthy and Manuela Gernedel first met when they were kids, bonding at a summer camp in Bavaria.

They've been inseparable ever since. Nick went on to form Franz Ferdinand, while Manuela studied visual art at the renowned Glasgow School of Art.

Yet they always made music together. Manuela is the latest vehicle for those creations, and perhaps the most direct, the most enticing.

Manuela's self-titled album emerges on March 31st via Lost Map, and it's a wonderful slice of art-pop with a lovely DIY feel.

Clash is able to premiere new cut 'Invincible' and its off kilter melodies seem to veer in several different directions at once.

Forever delivering the unexpected, the accompanying visuals offer simply a piece of vinyl turning on a record deck.

Simple, yes. Slightly surreal, definitely. But undeniably effective.

Manuela's debut album will be released on March 31st – pre-order LINK. Catch the band at London venue The Others on March 24th.
