London alt-pop outfit make 13/8 time look like a breeze...
Firestations

London alt-pop vagabonds Firestations want to send you a postcard.

The band have agreed to take part in Lost Map's singles scheme, with each individual postcard containing a download code to a new song.

'Make Your Own Mind Up' follows last year's rightly acclaimed full length, and it's an oddball slice of melody set in a complex - and we do mean complex - time signature.

Leader Mike Cranny says that the song "is really me telling myself to be less judgmental, even though the accusatory tone is directed towards the listener. The lyrics are intended to be a defence of a person who is a loyal friend, but also has a dark side and has done bad things in the past. Life can be tough, and independent thinking beyond media spin, societal pressure, expectation, party politics etc. can be really hard."

"On a different note, I reckon the outro might be the most fun thing on the whole album. Also, it’s in 13/8 – the best time signature for unexpected dance moves."

Out on May 11th, we've nabbed the full video up front and it's a snappily designed, eye-catching affair.

Tune in now.
