Intriguing 60s influenced newcomers...
Courtly Love

Courtly Love was initially a name given to behaviour between nobility in the Middle Ages.

With the church peering over their shoulders, young lovers would find ways to show affection which kept within the often strict boundaries of society.

A new group, Courtly Love seem to embrace this push/pull between society and physicality, between the mind and emotion. New single 'Mirage' b/w 'For Your Love, I Get High' comes draped in 60s tropes, from those Gretsch guitar lines to the Grace Slick style expression of femininity in the vocal.

Yet there's a pull/pull here, too. Between the past/present, influences/individuality - Courtly Love becomes a creative force, absorbing classic sounds and rendering them strange, new.

Out on June 2nd, you can check out the video for 'Mirage' on Clash.
