Kate Nash is confused, angry… but her heart's in the right place.
Sure, she might not be a scholar of Feminist theory but then, why should she be? She's a singer, not a lecturer and – although this might be hard to believe – Kate Nash does not have all the answers.
Yet she is having fun. On Record Store Day the singer released a one off heart shaped vinyl version of 'Free My Pussy', a track which blends Riot Grrl themes with K Records melodies.
Ending with a nursery rhyme – 'Frere Jacques' replaced with 'Free My Pussy' – it's naive, at times frustrating but overall just great fun.
A video for the single has emerged online, and it features Kate Nash preening to the camera in a rather lo fi fashion. It might not win over her detractors but, to her fans, this will no doubt seem like another off-the-cuff move from a singer who has long since moved past the established music industry.
Watch it now.
