Russia remains an inscrutable, idiosyncratic beast.
For so long a country dominated by the spectre of a Communist regime, Russian music fans were largely denied access to Western culture. Since the rise of Perestroika, however, more and more bands have been able to release their material and even tour across the Russian plains.
Blood Red Shoes are the latest in line. The Brighton duo recently packed up their kit bag for an adventure into the unknown, booking a series of shows around Russia.
Launching themselves into each performance, the band seemed to thrive on the energy produced by a crowd largely starved of interaction with British music.
Footage from those shows has now emerged online, with Blood Red Shoes packaging a series of shots into the new video for 'Red River'. Featuring plenty of rabid crowd scenes and the traditional battle with Russian authorities it's a fascinating watch.
Watch it now.
