Teenage Fanclub Add London Date

New album draws near

Legendary indie pop group Teenage Fanclub have added an extra London show to their upcoming show.

Music likes to go in circles. Teenage Fanclub enjoyed a brief burst of fame, with their 1991 album ‘Bandwagonesque’ topping critical polls in a year which included new releases from Nirvana, My Bloody Valentine and more.

Since then, however, the band have been determinedly unfashionable. With their jangly guitars and well crafted songs the ‘Bellshill Beach Boys’ won a huge army of devoted fans over a series of stunning albums.

Silent since 2005’s ‘Man Made’ collection, Teenage Fanclub have been silent. In the meantime, indie pop has come back into fashion with a series of groups from Brooklyn bringing the sound into vogue.

So a new album from Teenage Fanclub is both overdue and quite timely. ‘Shadow’ is due to be released on May 31st, with the record set to be preceded by the single ‘Baby Lee’ on May 24th.

Hopes are high for the new album, with Teenage Fanclub confirming a series of British tour dates. Opening with a show in London on May 1st, the band have added another headline show in the capital.

Teenage Fanclub will play a second show in London on June 8th, with support coming from Veronica Falls. A hotly tipped new London act, Veronica Falls have links with Pastels singer Stephen McRobbie.

Of course, McRobbie has made music with various members of Teenage Fanclub. And so, the circle complete, we can finish off this news story with some dates…

Teenage Fanclub have completed the following shows:

May
1 London Koko
27 Manchester Academy 2
28 Sheffield Leadmill
30 Dublin The Academy

June
1 Aberdeen Warehouse
2 Glasgow O2 ABC
3 Edinburgh The Picture House
4 Leeds The Cockpit
6 Bristol O2 Academy
7 Birmingham O2 Academy 2
8 London Shepherds Bush Empire
