Ninja Tune Art Exhibition

London show set to launch

Hugely respected British label Ninja Tune is set to launch a new exhibition of cover art.

Ninja Tune has turned 20. The ever green British label was founded by Coldcut back in 1990, when dance and underground acts had little option but to take the independent route to success.

Since then, major labels have woken up to electronic music but Ninja Tune retains a certain reputation. Signed to the imprint is almost a stamp of approval with their eclectic roster containing some major names and whimsical oddballs.

Turning 20 years old, Ninja Tune have organised a series of one off events. A luxurious box set is due to be released later this year featuring classic material alongside a series of highly anticipated new cuts.

Alongside this, Black Dog publishing are set to release a special biography of the label. Featuring some rare photographs and prints of cover art, the publishers have decided to host a new exhibition.

‘Ninja Tune: 20 Years of Beats + Pieces’ will open in London shortly, bringing together some rare items. On show will be posters, original drawings, paintings and 3D models and artwork from Ninja and its subsidiary labels, many never seen before outside of the Ninja offices.

The exhibition reflects the story of the label, growing from tiny origins to claiming the Mercury Music Prize in emotional circumstances last year. For the final week of the exhibition Black Dog will open a one day Ninja Tune pop up shop featuring some extremely rare memorabilia.

The new exhibition takes place at Black Dog in London, with a press launch on August 19th. The public exhibition then runs between August 20th to September 16th, running from 12pm – 5pm, Monday – Friday.

Don’t forget – the Ninja Tune XX Box Set is out on September 20th.
