Gang Starr Share New Album ‘One Of The Best Yet’

It's the project's first in 16 years...

A new album from hip-hop icons Gang Starr is on the shelves.

The project comes almost a decade after Guru's untimely death, with producer DJ Premier handed a plethora of unreleased raps from his former comrade.

Out now, 'One Of The Best Yet' is the first Gang Starr album in 16 years and it's much, much better than we had any right to expect.

Guru's raps are surprisingly strong for largely unused studio sessions, while Premier dips back into Gang Starr's instantly recognisable palette.

Sure, there's an element of nostalgia here, and – on our part, certainly – a kind of fan-inspired willingness for this project to work.

At heart, though, 'One Of The Best Yet' is simply an enjoyable hip-hop record from two of the best to do it, augmented by guest spots from (deep breath!) J. Cole, Q-Tip, Royce Da 5’9”, Talib Kweli, Ne-Yo, M.O.P., Jeru The Damaja, Freddie Foxxx, Big Shug, Group Home, and Nitty Scott.

Tune in now.
