Benin City – Faithless

Electronic soul with African flourishes...

Often stated but always true: It began in Africa.

Benin City are named after a state capital in Nigeria, but they're based in London. Accepting that Western pop isn't the be-all and end-all of musical creation, the three-piece swarm between electronic soul and the rhythmic assault of West African culture.

Hands up – to date, ClashMusic have only heard a handful of tracks. However the sheer electricity, the zest for creation which ripples through Benin City has got us very excited indeed.

Debut album 'Fire In The Park' is set to be released on July 1st, with new single 'Faithless' arriving on June 10th. Opening with a twanging indie guitar riff, Benin City recall the the funkier end of TV On The Radio, with their High Life flourishes adding an itchy, contagious groove.
