Marco Niemerski’s gone full-on pop, and he’s shouting it from the rooftops.
Yet for someone who blasted into the public consciousness through one track alone, 2010’s ‘Coma Cat’, the German producer trading under the name Tensnake could unleash a drone-core album as his debut and no-one would bat an eyelid.
Which is no insult; this is an enjoyable blend of ballads (‘58 BPM’), funked-out euphoria and even a satire of dance music pretension (‘Ten Minutes’). The art of making solid, interesting pop is one that Tensnake’s triumphantly mastered.
