Warp mainstays on dependable, yet still interesting, form...
'The Digging Remedy'

It’s now over 20 years since Warp patented the concept of ‘listening electronica’ via their landmark ‘Artificial Intelligence’ series. Plaid’s Ed Handley and Andy Turner were there at the very beginning, and on the strength of ‘The Digging Remedy’ not a huge amount has changed.

What you have here are the same skipping beats, slightly ghostly melodies and skewed dance music reference points that populated their work back in the ’90s. The departure comes with tracks like ‘The Bee’, itself a pastiche of the trip-hop genre, while tracks like ‘Melifer’ fuse the distinctive Plaid sound with pretty Balearic guitar melodies to keep things interesting.
