Track Of The Day 24/10 – Sam Nicolosi

'Realign'

Sam Nicolosi was born and raised just outside Chicago, a small town but still in touch with the big city.

Creative from a young age, he found himself continually drawn to melodies, to different instruments, and to little poems composed on the wing.

Eventually, those poems became songs, with Sam Nicolosi finally able to bring together those different strands, the different aspects of his creativity.

New cut 'Realign' is superbly infectious, with that twisting, turning acoustic guitar line sitting between pop hooks, R&B textures, and wonderfully distorted harmonies.

Sam explains: "I am mainly a guitarist (acoustic is my heart and soul) and my sound is made up of reversed / chopped 'n' screwed guitars. But along with the guitar I also play piano, hand drums, and so on. I pick up everything."

The song itself was prompted by the struggle of an emerging musician in his new home of Los Angeles. "Living in LA, writing for other artists, trying to make enough money each month just to pay my rent and still afford real food (which is hard to come by these days) – these things built up stress inside me and my creativity slowed down. The desperation to get cuts with other artists became detrimental to my creative process. During my second year of Los Angeles living, I realised that I’d only find relief making the music I wanted to make. I felt myself reconnecting to my own energy and purpose."

"I wrote 'Realign' as a celebration of my energy’s return. Through patience and discernment, we must forget all we know about who we are 'supposed to be' and actualize our true personal legends."

Remarkably creative and completely fresh, you can check out 'Realign' below.
