All killer, no filler rock 'n' roller...
Wild Smiles

Rob da Bank knows a thing or two about new music.

The broadcaster, label owner and festival curator is inundated with fresh tracks, swamped with unknowns hoping to make a mark. So when Rob da Bank signs someone to his Sunday Best imprint, it's usually worth sitting up and paying attention.

Hailing from Winchester, Wild Smiles are a raucous, noise-fuelled fusion of pop and danger. At heart, the band just want to write Beach Boys style hymnals, but what comes out feels more like a distorted, bracing view of Dinosaur Jr or The Jesus And Mary Chain.

New cut 'Fool For You' is a case in point. Lasting a mere two minutes, Wild Smiles manage to inject 'Fool For You' with some blazing new wave songcraft.

It's all deeply British, even down to the thrashing chords and crashing drums. Check it out first on Clash.
