Austrian duo Tosca have steered an idiosyncratic route across electronic plains for two decades now.
The pair's new album 'Going Going Going', though, brings a return. Finding their way back to their roots, Tosca aim to update themselves in the most direct fashion possible.
“It just feels good to come back to our original sound,“ says Rupert Huber. “After experimenting with song structures and vocal collaborations on the last album (2014’s “Outta Here”), we were looking at how we could make a logical progression and we realized that our real strength lay in Tosca’s roots, we just has to update that sound into something that made sense in 2017.”
Out via iK7 next year (pre-order LINK), it sounds like a fascinating piece of work - references cited range from proto-techno to Lee 'Scratch' Perry, synth pop to Ennio Morricone.
Clash is able to premiere new cut 'Export Import', and it's an enthralling piece of digital wizardry. Pop in the most oblique sense, it's a shard of electronic production that obeys no rules but its own.
Tune in now.
