Deeply indebted to soul music, Ella Eyre ironically made her name first in electronic circles.
Lending her voice to that Rudimental smash hit, the singer then went on tour with the group, forced to suddenly adapt to life in the limelight as a result.
The move just seemed to reinforce her own stubborn streak, a willingness for the world to take her on her own terms. Now focussing on her solo career, this independence is bearing remarkable dividends.
New single 'If I Go' will be released on July 13th, with Ella Eyre imbuing the track with a palpable sense of honesty. "I’ve always been into punchy, loud songs – passionate, with a message" she says. "And I’ve always been really lyrical – I love the idea that someone has felt the same as me. I love honesty, brutality and rawness."
House duo Billon have stepped in to remix the track, a move which nods towards Ella Eyre's breakthrough while also taking her music in a striking new direction.
