Premiere: David Kitt – ‘Still Don’t Know’

A gentle, touching piece of songwriting...

For almost a decade David Kitt has preferred to remain on the sidelines.

The guitarist has worked closely with Tindersticks, as well as indulging his love of house and techno under the New Jackson moniker.

A few months back, however, he began to collect a few songwriting ideas, initially more as a whim that a driven, fully-formed project.

“There was no pressure whatsoever with this record,” he says. “No label or manager, or anyone breathing down my neck. I was happy to wait as long as it took to have the right 10 songs”.

Patiently curated, David Kitt's studio sessions gradually merged into an album, something he diligently played for family and friends, getting their opinion in the process.

"The intention was to release it very low-key via Bandcamp and do a small vinyl run, but when it was done and mastered I had a feeling I had something special on my hands, and for the first time in a long while all my friends were chiming in saying it was their favourite thing I'd done."

New album 'Yous' arrives on March 9th (pre-order LINK), and it's a sparse, low-key, yet curiously affecting release, largely recorded in the attic of his Dublin home.

New song 'Still Don't Know' airs via Clash, rooted in that soft, wintery guitar line and the simple poetry of David Kitt's songwriting.
