Premiere: Cobalt Chapel – ‘Singing Camberwell Beauty’

Gloriously English psych-folk for the witching season...

It's the season of the witch, as Donovan once sang.

There's a palpable tang in the air all throughout October, leading up to Hallowe'en – All Hallow's Eve, when the dead rise and haunt the living.

Cobalt Chapel's new cut seems to nail this atmosphere. The project – London-based vocalist and actress Cecilia Fage and Sheffield-based musician Jarrod Gosling – make the kind of bewitching psych-folk that could only resonate from merrie olde England.

Set to support Earth and Matt Berry at upcoming shows, Cobal Chapel have now detailed plans for their debut release.

'Singing Camberwell Beauty' has a lilting waltz-like rhythm, upon which are layered some wonderfully fragrant vocals.

It's baroque pop, with those harpsichord-like touches epitomising a retro-futurist fetish that neatly parallels the Ghost Box collective.

Tune in now.

Catch Cobalt Chapel at St. Pancras Old Church, London on November 9th.
