In ancient times, the summer solstice was greeted as a time of re-birth, of fertility.
Over the past 100 years, though, these traditions of music and merry-making have somewhat died out. Secret Solstice Festival, though, refuses to stand idly by.
Setting their sights on Iceland, organisers intend to launch a special event for midsummer. Hosted in the Hot Spring Valley, the festival utilises a naturally beautiful setting and some 72 hours of daylight.
Bristol group Massive Attack are set to headline the festival, while Iceland's own Mum are also set to appear. House guru Kerri Chandler is set to take part, while British producers such as Skream, Boddika and Artwork have all been booked for the Icelandic event.
Spread across three days, the Secret Solstice Festival matches Scandinavian talent to international acts at one of the most blissful times of the year.
Tickets are on sale now.
Secret Solstice Festival runs between June 20th - 22nd.
