Queens Of The Stone Age are set to release a new studio album in 2017.
The band last released new material in 2013, with ‘...Like Clockwork’ winning praise from fans and critics alike.
Heading back into the studio, a new album is due to follow in 2017. The news comes from an unlikely source, with Mastodon’s Troy Sanders recently forming a new project with Queens Of The Stone Age musician Troy van Leeuwen.
Speaking to Rolling Stone, Sanders was asked how he managed to juggle so many different projects. “I like to think none of us needs this band, but we all really want this band. When that’s the mentality, this is special to the four of us,” Sanders explained.
“Otherwise, we wouldn’t dedicate the first week of 2017 to working on this band. For example, Queens of the Stone Age, Mastodon and At the Drive-In have all been recording, and we all have new records coming out this year. We’ve all been extremely busy writing and recording, and we’re about to get super busy touring the world. So I believe we’re all fulfilled to a certain degree with all we have going on.”
Last summer Josh Homme appeared on the Let There Be Talk podcast, revealing that a new Queens Of The Stone Age album was “next on the schedule”.
