German publication Der Spiegal has released the full audio of its interview with Morrissey.

The interview took place last month, and featured widely reports comments made by Morrissey on sexual harassment cases such as Kevin Spacey.

Morrissey later disavowed the interview, and wrote a statement arguing that Der Spiegel had refused to hand the audio to him.

Following this, the German title has placed the 43 minute audio recording of the interview online for anyone to hear.

Asked if he followed "#MeToo and [Harvey] Weinstein and all those things" the singer replied: "To a point I did, but then it becomes a theatre, and suddenly everybody’s guilty. Anybody who has ever said to a person, ‘I quite like you,’ suddenly they’re being accused of sexual harassment."

Morrissey later added: "There are extreme cases—and rape is revolting, and any kind of physical attack is revolting—but we must keep it in perspective, otherwise everybody on the planet is guilty of everything."

He also cast doubt on one of the survivors of abuse at the hands of Kevin Spacey, stating: "You have to assume that the boy had an inkling of what might possibly happen."

The audio also includes a lengthy passage from Morrissey in which he explains why he believes "Germany has become the rape capital of Europe" and that "it coincides with the open borders and the free flow, which is very very shocking."

Morrissey said: "It’s very important for every country to retain the identity it has because it doesn’t come easy. Millions of people died for the German identity. Millions of people died for the British identity. And if you respect all those people and the loss of their lives, then you must protect your own country to a great extent. You cannot say that the identity of your country is nothing—you cannot say that!—and that seems to be happening throughout Europe."
