In the wee small hours of the morning, Canada's Conservative Prime Minister Stephen Harper was swept from power following a crushing election defeat.
The Liberal Party broke all manner of records, with Justin Trudeau set to form the new government. It's the end of an enormous popular movement, one that seemed to grip the country's creative community.
As the polls opened, a host of musicians used social media to urge fans to use their vote wisely.

The Liberals are based in Montreal, which of course is a major musical hub within Canada. Local boys Half Moon Run were quick to show their support:

As the results tumbled in, it was almost immediately clear that Stephen Harper was set to be handed a crushing defeat.

July Talk offered to personally call fans who voted in the election, and the duo were clearly over the moon with the results.

Dan Mangan spoke to Clash earlier this month, with the songwriter rhapsodising about the progressive movement within Canada. A vocal figure in supporting left of centre causes, the Canadian artist took time to acknowledge the change within his country.
We imagined it and then it happened. #ImagineOct20th
